ZibaSec Learn: Open Source Security Awareness Training

October 16, 2022

We are proud to announce the initial release of our security awareness training which is fully free and open source, and can be accessed directly from GitHub at https://github.com/zibasec/awareness-training

When we started ZibaSec in early 2020, we set out on a mission to make email security accessible to all organizations and individuals, not just those with massive budgets. Part of this goal is democratizing access to security awareness training which has historically been scattered through the internet or protected by vendor paywalls.

With 2020 seeing a 100% increase in phishing attacks and a significant increase across other attack vectors we think it’s counterproductive to restrict access to knowledge. While we plan to build out some native LMS-like features within PhishTACO, we want to make the content itself something that everyone can benefit from, and that anyone can contribute to.

This initial version is just that; version 1. In terms of aesthetics, content, capabilities, we plan to iterate and improve on this, ideally with the help of a broader community. We’re launching with 20 learning modules, each of which can be leveraged as a SCORM module, PDF, or slide deck. The full list of modules can be seen at https://learn.zibasec.com/output/.

We opted for very permissive licensing to allow any organization, consultant, or individual to copy, modify, and or distribute this content in almost any way desired. There is some engineering magic that is used to generate the pdf/scorn/slides content from ASCII documents; all of the code that is part of this project is licensed under Apache Version 2, and all educational material itself is licenses under a Creative Commons license (CC BY-SA 4.0)

We hope this is useful to you. Please provide any feedback/comments/etc via GitHub or via email learn@zibasec.io
